After close to 40 years spent in the business I truly love I’ve garnered my fair share of accolades
So I don’t pay much attention to them anymore, but, in the past month, we’ve had a couple back-to-back kudos that I feel proud to share.
Back in 2009, when I was first working on the menu for our debut location in San Diego, one thing I knew for sure was that I needed to have a great burger on our menu. So I went about working on several variations with the thought that one would surely rise to the top… Wrong.
I narrowed the choices down to a few personal favorites but simply could not find one that I like better than the other.
They all were different and had their own unique qualities and appeal. So I decided to put them all on the menu, but truth be told, my personal favorite has always been the Cowboy Burger. This over the top combination of a giant beer battered onion ring, roasted green chile, Applewood smoked bacon, chipotle barbecue sauce, and sharp cheddar cheese all piled high on a half-pound of ground Sirloin is my idea of burger heaven.
This past month Brad Johnson of the Orange County Register agreed as he named the JFAT Cowboy Burger one of the top 10 burgers in Orange County….great palates taste alike Brad!
But, wait… There’s more.
Nashville Hot Spicy Fried Chicken Burger
Even those non-red meat burger fans sent some love our way as our ‘Nashville Hot Spicy Fried Chicken Burger’ complete with honey-mustard slaw and bread & butter pickles was named one of the ’10 Great Non-Beef Burgers in Orange County’ by OC Weekly!
Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… What plays in the OC, stays in the OC… Wrong again. Our burgers are the top selling entrees at both our Woodland Hills and Santa Monica locations and it gets even better.
Our #1 selling entrée at Brunch in both La La Land locations is another of our over the top sandwich creations….’The Bubba’
This beast should have its own zip code… it truly puts some ‘south in your mouth’. How about our housemade buttermilk biscuit filled with fried chicken (#1 selling non burger entrée), cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, sausage gravy and a sunnyside egg? to quote Dick Enberg: “Oh, My!”
So, we say thank you to all of you out there who appreciate our versions of the hamburger and the sandwich….two uniquely American classics forever interwoven into the culinary fabric of our country.
Look for some new specials to show up soon at your local JFAT this summer!
