I am proud to announce a formal partnership with the Monterey Bay Aquarium ‘Seafood Watch’ program, committing to serve only seafood caught or farmed in ocean friendly ways. JFAT has been a Green Certified restaurant since its inception in 2010 and we are proud to now be a part of the longstanding ‘Seafood Watch’ Program. Previously, JFAT was a partner in the Long Beach Aquarium’s ‘Seafood for the Future’ but recently this program transitioned into a one designed to provide marketing support for the increasingly important Marine Aquaculture industry. Without the expansion of this industry we will eventually fish out our oceans as the world population and demand for seafood increases every year.
Seafood Watch empowers consumers and businesses to make choices for a healthy ocean. Using science-based, peer review methods, Seafood Watch assesses how wild-caught and farmed seafood affect the environment and provides recommendations indicating which items are Best Choices, Good Alternatives, and which ones to Avoid.
Seafood Watch raises sustainable seafood awareness through its consumer guides, website, app and partnerships with businesses, culinary leaders and conservation organizations across North America and beyond.
